Isaac (my fiance) and I have recently started watching “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS. We started with one 22 minute show, yet it ended up a DVD marathon to catch up to the latest episode. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly suggest you check it out at least once. We think it’s one of the funniest sitcom’s on TV since “Friends.” You can consider it, “Friends” but with four nerdy men and an attractive female neighbor.

In the latest episode aired on 1/6/2011 (Season 4, Episode 12,) Leonard’s idea for a smartphone app derails his friendship with Sheldon. To gain his revenge, Sheldon attempts to “woo” their friends caught in the middle to join Sheldon’s team as a rival app development group. Most of what makes this scene funny, is that Sheldon tries to “woo” them with branded merchandise, or promotional products.
Promotional Product Placement #1: Black mugs with their friends name’s or titles on them to make them feel special.
Promotional Product Placement #2: Monogram key chains with built-in laser pointers.
Promotional Product Placement #3: Koozie’s with the University Beaver Logo (University where the characters work)

In the end, Sheldon’s friends were not “woo-ed” enough by the items to betray their friend and steal his idea, but Sheldon believed it was worth a try. Plus, I really enjoyed watching Sheldon’s character sell it.
